While Austcare’s passion and drive to ensure quality and care for the ageing and disabled community the technology behind them was not exactly fit for purpose. Hicaliber was engaged to deliver a technology stack like no other, while something easy to use, compliant and highly detailed, the market lacked in all areas, until Hicaliber came along.

About

Austcare was founded on the belief that every older or disabled Australian should have quality-trained staff caring for their needs. Austcare provides leading aged care courses, with a focus on Industry specific Education learning to Care for Individuals.

Project

Austcare utilises the JobReady Student Management System provided by ReadyTech. The solution is cloud based and while it manages the student enrolments and accounting well, it lacked the ability to mark students’ attendance, offer electives, provide evidence summaries/reports and other services required by trainers. Austcare needed a new application that could deliver on these requirements and connect the results into JobReady.

Development

Hicaliber created a new cloud based solution that provided Students and Trainers the ability to run virtual and physical class rooms, mark their attendance, update evidence summaries and report for compliance purposes. We also created QR Codes for student touchless logins, QR Codes for student handbook shipping and returns and an administration system.

Technology

AWS: Serverless, RDS, Lambda, Lex, Connect, Rekognition, Cloudfront, Lightsail and more. We also developed the software in Laravel, PHP and Vue.js. This is hosted on an AWS EC2 instance.

Results

The software now manages 50+ courses per month and over 2,500 students annually. We have reduced administrative time previously allocated to tracking down handbooks and reports created by Trainers. Attendances are now compliant with government regulations.
